No contact with Garoppolo
Tuesday, close end George Kittle mentioned he did not speak with strategist Jimmy Garoppolo since the team cleaned out their lockers after the season. Head coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers still intend to trade Garoppolo, but also said nothing is guaranteed.
On Wednesday, new San Francisco quarterbacks coach Brian Griese said he’s worked closely with every quarterback on the team this offseason except for Garoppolo. In fact, the assistant coach didn’t even speak with Garoppolo.

Yes, Garoppolo is recovering from his March 8 shoulder surgery. Still, the positional coach not working with the quarterback at all is a good indicator that the team is focused on moving forward without him.
Chris Foerster confident in Aaron Banks
Last year’s second-round pick, Aaron Banksplayed just five offensive snaps in his 2021 rookie campaign. However, the 49ers seem confident the offensive lineman can have more impact in his second NFL season.

Kris Kocurek hailed Armstead’s adaptability in 2021
Defensive line coach Kris Kocurek shared that the 49ers value versatility on the defensive front. This should surprise no one. However, the assistant gave a lot of credit to Arik Armsteadthe team’s adaptability for unit success in 2021, especially after injuries plagued the team. “I didn’t mandate anything,” Kocurek explained. “I said, ‘Hey, I’m just throwing this back at you. What do you think?’ …He was all for [moving inside]. Arik, the main thing he showed me is that he is an unselfish player. He’s a team guy. He has been captain for two years. The guys look at him.
“And most people can’t make that transition mid-season. If you want to make that type of transition, it usually has to be in the offseason, [using] the OTAs to get familiar in there and then sharpen it in [training] camp, then hit the ground running in week 1.
“He’s thrown there Week 7, Week 8. It’s not the easiest thing to do. Arik has excelled there throughout the season. … And then in the playoffs, I thought he was playing his better ball, that was a difference – doing the player type in there, running and passing.”

Raiders work with Colin Kaepernick
This one isn’t part of Wednesday’s media availability, but it’s a standout nonetheless. Former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who last played in the league in the 2016 season, has training scheduled with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Colin Kaepernick, who last played football in 2016, the same year he began kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, is expected to train this week for the Las Raiders. Vegas, league sources told ESPN.

Kaepernick has been out of the league since the start of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch’s regime when the 49ers opted out of bringing the quarterback back.
Kaepernick’s NFL career was cut short after the quarterback began kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial injustice, prompting many others to follow in his footsteps the following season. Director Spike Lee is working on a multi-part documentary for ESPN that will focus on the polarizing quarterback.
In 2021, Netflix released the drama series “Colin in Black and White”, narrated by Kaepernick.
